Privacy Policy

Talking Pumpkin is run by Nikita Zdvijkov, a sole proprietorship based in Houston, Texas, USA, who is responsible for your data and the party you contract with when you use the service. This page says what we collect and why. Questions or requests: halloween@pobox.com.

Conversations are not stored

While the pumpkin is awake, the microphone audio goes straight from your device to OpenAI, which listens and produces the pumpkin's spoken replies. We don't receive, record or store the audio or what is said. OpenAI processes it under its API data policy: it is not used to train their models, and OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days to detect abuse. The pumpkin forgets each conversation a couple of minutes after it ends.

What we do keep

• From your purchase: your email address and the amounts paid, from Paddle. Paddle handles your card details; we never see them.
• The personality text you write for your pumpkin.
• Usage counts: how many times the pumpkin answered, how many tokens that used and what it cost, so we can count your talk time. Not what was said.
• Page visits: the page, the website that linked to it, the country, and whether it was a phone or a computer. Visitors are counted with a code that changes every day and can't be traced back to you. No tracking cookies, no ad networks.
• One cookie, which keeps your device signed in to your pass.

Who else handles it

• Paddle, our reseller and merchant of record, for payments, receipts, taxes and refunds.
• OpenAI, for the pumpkin's voice and replies, and for checking personalities are suitable.
• Vercel (hosting) and Neon (database), which store the data above for us.

We don't sell your data or share it with anyone else.

Children

Passes are for adults. The pumpkin will often talk with children, but we don't collect anything from them: their voices are only processed live to answer them, and never stored by us.

How long, and your choices

We delete accounts, personalities and usage counts by December 31, 2026, except payment records that must be kept for tax and accounting. Email halloween@pobox.com any time to see, correct or delete your data.
